College Guidance Associate and Part-Time English Teacher

The Hewitt School seeks a part-time college guidance associate who will work in the college office and also teach two sections of english (grades 9 and 10). The person in this position, which is on a 10 month faculty schedule, will report primarily to the director of college guidance and will also be a member of the english department.
Shared responsibilities with the director of college guidance:
Overseeing college representative visits during the fall
Communication with admission representative during early and regular decision application processes
Conducting college seminars
Managing the teacher recommendation process
Uploading forms and documents to Naviance
College guidance letters of recommendations
Coordinating/scheduling key events
Junior class admissions committee case studies program
Junior class college trip
Overseeing anticipated caseload of approximately one-third of the class (10-13 students)
Serving as AP coordinator
Advanced placement (AP) testing
Working as the liaison to services for students with disabilities coordinator regarding students receiving accommodations
Coordinating/scheduling event logistics
Examples: standardized testing information evening, junior class college night
Attend key college networking events such as the NACAC annual conference
Teach two sections of english:
Grade 9: Finding your voice
Grade 10: American literature
Bachelor’s degree in english or related field
Experience working in admissions in a college/university or high school
