The Bryn Mawr School for Girls seeks an energetic and dynamic Lower School science faculty member to coordinate and teach science in grades 2 – 5 beginning August, 2018. Bryn Mawr’s Lower School science program encourages girls to view themselves as scientists and to explore each topic through a variety of means. By following the steps in the scientific method, students learn to do experiments and to draw conclusions from their data.
Strong candidates possess a broad background in the sciences, and a vision for designing a substantive and age appropriate science curriculum that excites girls about science. Candidates must be comfortable using both a variety of pedagogical approaches and technology effectively in the teaching and learning process. This position presents a unique opportunity for a teacher to develop and direct an innovative Lower School science curriculum in our state of the art Lower School Science Center.

Experience / Qualifications & Skills
A bachelor’s degree in science elementary education or a field of science is required; a master’s degree in a field of science education or science is preferred.
Three or more years of teaching science in lower and/or middle school and the associated laboratory work; independent school experience is a plus.
Knowledge of varied teaching strategies to differentiate learning.
Fluency with a variety of technology tools to advance learning and the ability to incorporate technology into instruction.
Ability to develop hands-on activities that stimulate a love of learning, encourage problem solving, and develop creativity; experience with curriculum development is a plus.
Passion for subject matter and for working with colleagues and with young girls.
