The English Language & American Culture Institute at Perkiomen School is seeking qualified Residential Teaching Assistants for a four-week summer program. Reporting to the Residential Director, the Residential Teaching Assistants will provide meaningful afternoon, evening, and weekend activities that compliment instruction to international students at the middle and high school levels with varying degrees of English proficiency and diverse cultural backgrounds.

Welcome students to campus and help students get adjusted to campus life
Assist with the dorm move-in and move-out process
Provide a wide variety of engaging, fun activities
Contribute to the students’ development of life skills needed for success at a boarding school
Strive to get to know each student individually and meet their needs
Participate in three all-day field trips
Attend and provide input at all staff meetings
We are offering a competitive salary of $2,500 for the four-week program, room and board, and rewarding summertime memories working with international students.
Some undergraduate study in the area of education, international affairs or global studies
Experience working with middle and/or high school students as a tutor and/or camp counselor, preferably in a residential camp setting
Native fluency in English
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to demonstrate diplomacy, flexibility, and patience
Experience attending a boarding school and/or camp as a middle and/or high school student
Experience living and/or studying abroad and knowledge of a foreign language is preferred
Ensure students attend breakfast from 8:00-8:30 am Mondays-Saturdays and are ready for the day.
Make sure students attend brunch from 10:30-11:30 am on Sundays.
Be present for student breaks, activities, dinner, and evening programs as scheduled by Residential Director.
Maintain proper levels of discipline, welfare, and safety of all students.
Take attendance to ensure students are where they should be at all times.
Encourage students to use English only when participating in group activities.
Assist with engaging afternoon, evening, and weekend activities that compliment instruction.
Start and finish activities on time and guide students to their next location as needed.
Ensure students meet their curfew and lights are out at 10:00 pm nightly.
Consult with Residential Director for any questions regarding planned activities.
Consult with Residential Director regarding any student concerns.
Participate in three all-day field trips.
