OVERVIEW Lexington Christian Academy is accepting applications for a Part-Time Nurse. This position will report to the Director of Studies. This is a half-time position based on a 12-month work cycle with possibility of a flex time arrangement. LCA offers employees who work during the summer the option to send their children to Meadow Breeze Day Camp (Age 5-12) free of charge as part of the Academy’s employee benefits. LCA Health Office operates as a team of Head Nurse, Nurse and on-call nurses under the oversight of the School Doctor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Ensure all boarding students enrolled have proper Health Insurance Plan information on file • Coordinate signing up of all boarding school students (except 5 day Boarders) at a local Primary Care Physician Practice at the beginning of the Academic Year and provide the school’s designated care provider with all necessary health information and signed consents. • Provide direct nursing care, including first aid and emergency care, to all LCA students (Day, Boarding and Auxiliary Programs) and staff/faculty or campus visitors, and refer for emergency medical services as needed • Provide adequate support and supervision to ensure the safety of the student including arranging follow up in the dorm • Facilitate referral to and or consultation with the student’s physician or other medical specialist as necessary. • Provide boarding students with weekly monitoring of self-administration of medications • Assist boarding students and guardians with ordering, refilling and obtaining prescription medication from a local pharmacy • Document care in the electronic medical record and maintain confidential medical records on all students • Document prescription medications as they are directly administered or given to a student for selfadministration. • Accompany students to doctor’s office and emergency room when circumstances necessitate • Support the Head Nurse by: o Maintaining and improving LCA Health Office system, equipment and personnel training o Developing and following a safe program for medication administration at the School and at the Dorm o Developing effective allergies and asthma management strategies o Maintaining secure and up to date medical records for both online and offline files o Ensuring all students attending LCA are properly immunized as required and screened for TB infection/exposure per MDPH regulations. Communicating with local boards of health and the MDPH regarding vaccines, communicable diseases, and public health issues o Coordinating yearly flu clinics for faculty and staff and some students
SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary for this half-time, 12-month position is based on the pay rate of $25/hour (negotiable, commensurating with experience and/or qualifications).

KEY QUALIFICATIONS • Registered Nurse licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts • CPR certification is required but instructor certification for CPR/AED/First Aid is preferred • Experience or knowledge of working with middle and high school students in Day or Boarding School setting and the relevant state and town regulations is a strong plus • Basic proficiency of office computer systems including Microsoft Office and Google platforms is required and proficiency in Student Health Records such as Magnus Health is a strong plus • Strong organization, excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and positive can-do attitude
