Hawken seeks a full-time (12-month) Director of Upper School Admission to begin July 1, 2018. The successful candidate will further Hawken's mission of "forward-focused preparation for the real world through the development of character and intellect" by recruiting a diverse and talented upper school student body. The school is looking for a dynamic self-starter who can initiate and work on projects independently and also work cooperatively with a larger admission team across Hawken's three campuses. The Director of Upper School Admission reports to the Assistant Head of School for Enrollment Management.
Manage the admission process for prospective students entering Grades 9-12 from inquiry through enrollment stages.
Oversee a staff of four admission professionals.
Collaborate in larger school-wide strategic design and implementation of the plans to attract, admit, yield, and retain qualified students for Hawken.
Ensure quality and success of Upper School tour guide, parent ambassador and visit day programs.
Interview prospective students and families.
Organize Upper School admission events, including open houses, receptions and orientation events.
Chair the admission committee for Grades 9-12 and conduct thorough evaluation of applicant files.
Coordinate retention process and activities for 8th grade families on the Lyndhurst and Birchwood campuses.
Develop and sustain professional relationships with feeder schools and organizations.
Collaborate with the Upper School division director, class deans and other administrators to monitor progress and retention of current Upper School students.
Assist in creation of marketing materials.
Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Head of School for Enrollment Management.
Serve as a member of the Financial Aid committee.

Previous independent school or college admissions experience.
Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, organizational and communication skills (written and oral)
