For 7 years, our program has included a Summer Academy, an intensive academic day program for rising high school seniors and rising college freshmen. In 2018, we are excited to launch our residential Summer Academy, which will serve approximately 60 students and will take place at Amherst College from June 24 to August 4. In this intensive academic program, students will spend much of the week in quantitative and writing courses taught by college faculty. In the evenings and on weekends, students will engage in enrichment programming, focused on building community and on preparing students for their next chapter, be that applying to college or entering college.
SCS Noonan Scholars seeks a Summer Director to provide on-site leadership at our 2018 Summer Academy. The Summer Director will be the primary on-site representative of SCS Noonan Scholars, and will be in charge of the day-to-day operation of the program.
With significant support from an Assistant Summer Director, the Director will administer program logistics, develop and leading recreational programming, providing supervision of and support to Scholars and supervising Resident Advisors.
The Director will live among Scholars in a resident hall. As this is a residential program, the Director and Assistant Director will collaborate to provide coverage 24 hours/day for the duration of the program in case urgent matters arise. The Director has 6 paid days off over the course of the Summer Academy, to be taken on weekdays. The Director will participate in orientation and planning in Boston from June 18th to June 23rd. After the conclusion of Summer Academy, the Director will be responsible for creating an end-of-program report.
