The Director of Financial Assistance is an integral member of Cate School’s Admission Team and reports directly to the Director of Admission and Enrollment. The Director of Financial Assistance will be responsible for administering and directing all aspects of the financial assistance program at Cate School as well as supporting all areas relating to student recruitment.
Oversee all aspects of Financial Assistance at Cate School
Support students and families on financial assistance through regular communications and participate in the Financial Assistance Affinity Group
Oversee financial assistance budget of over $4,000,000 in collaboration with Controller
and Director of Admission
Evaluate new and returning financial assistance applications in conjunction with Controller to determine appropriate and consistent allocation of funds
Chair the Financial Assistance Committee; serve on the Admission Committee and the Financial Assistance Sub Committee of the Board of Trustees
Serve as chief liaison to families receiving financial assistance to ensure a consistent application of policies and a positive experience
Communicate scope of financial assistance awards to families receiving assistance
Support Office Manager in arranging travel for those FA students who receive a travel stipend
Support Office Manager in arranging travel/hotel arrangements for parents of FA students for Family Weekend
Travel domestically for student recruitment as assigned by the Director. This includes school fairs, school visits, receptions, etc.
Responsible for assisting other members of the admission office with various duties, including, but not limited to: The Tour Guide Program, the Re-visit Program, Congratulations Phone Calls, and the Opening of School Program
Conduct student interviews
Attend faculty meetings, assemblies, convocation, sit-down meals, and other duties consistent with a boarding school administrator and/or faculty member
Effective understanding and use of the SSS by NAIS financial aid system
Other duties as indicated by the Director of Admission and/or the Headmaster that are keeping within the spirit of a boarding school faculty member
The commitment and ability to articulate the special nature of a Cate education
An interest in all facets of financial assistance and enrollment management including a deep understanding of all aspects of tax reporting and evolving tax codes
The ability and willingness to work collaboratively with all Cate constituents, including, but not limited to, admission staff, faculty, students, parents, Board members, alumni, and the Headmaster
The ability to travel representing Cate
Willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed
Can manage details and meet deadlines
Excellent interpersonal, written and spoken communication skills
Expertise in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint: experience with Veracross a plus
Minimum five years experience in admission, experience in financial assistance preferred
