The New Community School is currently hiring a Middle School Science Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.
This teacher will teach small classes of Middle School students in a supportive, professional environment.
Job Description: The teacher will:
Teach small classes (6-8 students/class) a structure sequence of science concepts using varied instructional strategies.
Contribute to the rich Middle School student life program.
Serve as the faculty advisor to a small group of students.
Facilitate ongoing communication with parents regarding student progress, including formal written reports in accordance with the school calendar.
Teach an additional electives course as needed.
Participate in the school’s extensive pre-service/in-service training and mentoring program.
Perform other supervisory duties (i.e., athletic coaching) as assigned.
Requirements: The ideal candidate must possess:
A strong interest in learning differences and how they can affect the acquisition of science concepts.
A bachelor’s degree, Virginia state licensure, and two years’ teaching experience.
Experience in working with learning-disabled students is preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
A desire and willingness to grow professionally and work as part of a team.
Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with experience.
