The Seven Hills School, an independent day school of about 1000 students, is seeking a knowledgeable and empathetic College Counselor to join our vibrant school community.
Our College Counseling department of four shares responsibility for:
Meeting regularly with students and their parents
Educating and counseling them about the college search and application process
Composing compelling letters of recommendation for each senior advisee (average load per class is 25-30 students)
Reading and providing feedback on college essays and supplemental application questions
Planning and conducting college information programs regarding college admission, office procedures, financial aid, etc.
Creating and maintaining strong professional ties with college admission officers
Seven Hills students come from 65 zip codes around Cincinnati. They value our open, trusting environment and relish the challenges they find in our classrooms, playing fields, art studios and stage. A menu of school programs encourages them to explore the world beyond the walls of the school; they graduate ready and eager to take their talents to the next level. Working with them is an enormously rewarding enterprise.
This is a 10-month position (mid-August through mid-June).
Emotional intelligence, collegiality, energy, a collaborative spirit
Sensitivity to the needs of students and parents and the ability to be both supportive and realistic through the college application process
Excellent writing and speaking skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Knowledge of Naviance and strong computer skills
3-5 years of college advising and/or college admissions experience preferred.
