Poly Prep Country Day School announces a search for Upper School History Teacher, grades 9 through 12.
Poly Prep strives to provide a diverse, just and equitable education for our students. We seek an Upper School History Teacher with expertise in African-American Studies/History and United States History who is committed to promoting these values; and whose competence, integrity and collegiality will enrich our school and History department.
Teaching responsibilities include:
Four classes/sections (African-American History senior elective; 11th grade U.S. History; 9th grade World History)
Generating happiness and a positive outlook on life and learning
Being an advisor for a group of students (7-10)
Advising a club or activity
Attending community events throughout the school year
Attending and contributing to meetings during and after the school day, including but not limited to: department, committee, division and grade-level meetings
The successful candidate will possess excellent content knowledge; a passion for teaching and learning; enthusiasm for working with students, families and colleagues; a growth mindset; and a sense of humor. She or he will be able to inspire and empower students to learn; write well; collaborate and engage in daily discourse about history in the context of current and future events with students and colleagues; and commit to ongoing professional development and life-long learning. A graduate degree and a minimum of two years teaching experience are preferred.
