Overview of Position
The San Francisco School seeks a 4th & 5th Grade Math and Science Teacher who is experienced in math programs such as Bridges and/or Contexts for Learning as well as Common Core Math and NextGen Science standards. This teacher will typically teach daily math classes for both 4th and 5th grade (approximately 22 students per grade), as well as science classes for each grade. The Math/Science teacher will collaborate with the 4th & 5th Lead teachers as well as the Lower Elementary and Middle School Math teachers to ensure program alignment. The Math and Science Teacher also works cooperatively as part of the Elementary School team, and responsibilities outside the classroom include recess and lunch duties; conducting parent-teacher conferences; participating in outdoor/travel education trips; and beginning an after school STEM club. Teachers come together on a weekly basis to collaborate as an Elementary School team, discuss best teaching practices, support students, and engage in professional development opportunities. Teacher will partner with parents/guardians too!
