The Town School Psychologist/Counselor, Grades 5-8
Maternity Leave Replacement (Mid-August through Early January 2019)
The Town School is a co-educational nursery through 8th Grade school of 400 students on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Create and manage developmentally appropriate counseling curriculum and programs for students in grades 5-8
Provide individual and group counseling services for students with various adjustment challenges including management of familial and social relationships, learning disorders, depression, stress, anxiety, etc.
Consult with Division Head, and members of the Student Support Team and faculty to develop appropriate aid for students with learning difficulties or other prevailing issues impacting cognitive, behavioral or emotional functioning
Review psychological testing reports and consult with parents and faculty in order to provide comprehensive academic and emotional support
Teach a Life Skills course for students, grades 5-8, addressing identity development, sexuality, bullying/aggression, peer leadership, friendships, healthy relationships, etc.
Consult and collaborate with mental health clinicians, occupational therapists and educational consultants to provide streamline support in and out of school
