The Roxbury Latin School is seeking a highly skilled and creative design professional as its new Director of Digital and Graphic Design. This individual will report to the Director of External Relations and will work on a wide variety of print- and web-based projects, extending the brand of the School and advancing its mission. He or she will be responsible for helping to identify distinctive features of the School and to communicate the “RL story,” articulating the School’s program and vision—with an in-depth understanding of its mission and traditions—through a robust, multimedia design approach, engaging both external and internal constituencies through print and web.
Working closely with the Director of External Relations and colleagues throughout the School—including members of the development and admission offices—the Director will serve as primary web developer and graphic designer for all campus communication initiatives. He or she will develop creative, high-caliber, digital and print communications and marketing materials, including the quarterly Roxbury Latin Newsletter; implement consistent graphic identity standards across all media; and manage production of publications, web-based projects, print ads, graphics support, and video projects from concept through implementation.
This individual will have primary responsibility for the user experience of the School’s website, ensuring—with the Director of External Relations—that the site dynamically and accurately communicates the mission and program of the School to a variety of audiences, including prospective families, alumni, parents, and the general public.
In addition to proficiency with sophisticated design software and web-based creative development, the Director should have knowledge of marketing campaigns, publicity and promotional practices, and be computer literate in both hardware and software. This individual will also work closely with members of the School’s technology department, to ensure compatibility and functionality of the front- and back-end of the website, and to coordinate the integration of data systems, as appropriate.
Experience working in a school, university, or nonprofit organization is preferred. There may be opportunities, despite a demanding schedule for the essential aspects of this position, for involvement additionally in the extracurricular life of the School. This position begins June 2018.
