Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Athletics is responsible for leading the Island Pacific Academy athletics program.
The Director of Athletics is responsible for the development and implementation of a robust athletic program that will allow for a well-balanced educational experience for the students of IPA.
The Director of Athletics will also represent Island Pacific Academy as a representative to the Interscholastic League of Hawaii, HHSAA, HIADA, and at NIAAA functions
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates the IPA athletic program in collaboration with coaches to ascertain programmatic needs on an annual basis, as well as prior to each season to insure consistency of program.
Initiates the recruitment and selection of coaches
Supervises and evaluates all coaches both full-time and temporary hires for the IPA athletic program
Secure the services of an athletic trainer(s) when possible for all athletic events
Prepares and verifies all required documents to the ILH and HHSAA.
Supervises or coordinates athletic practices and athletic contests. Oversees the supervision of contest employees and volunteers who work the athletic contest where applicable. Arranges for personnel to supervise contests as needed.
Supervises athletic funds, prepares and administers a detailed operating budget for the athletic program and submits it to the Head of School and Controller. Orders all equipment
Maintains a current inventory of all athletic equipment issues Collects all equipment and uniforms.
Advises and ensures all coaches conform with ILH league policies and regulations and with state and federal laws.
Provides leadership for and serves as liaison to high school athletic booster groups and coordinates, with the coaches, the support group for specific athletic programs.
Arranges transportation for athletic participants as necessary.
Ensures adherence to medical and safety requirements in accordance to best practices.
Maintains necessary records and completes required paperwork in a specified time and manner. Maintains Athletic handbook and keeps all policies current in accordance with state and federal law and best practices.
Ensures that proper form(s) (insurance, attendance, medical) are obtained and current for students.
Ensures that all student athletes are eligible, insured and have paid fees.
Coordinates with principals to ensure academic eligibility is maintained.
Other duties as assigned by the Head of School and or his/her designee
Bachelor’s Degree in related field
Minimum 5 years of teaching/coaching experience. Administrative experience preferred
Experience developing, organizing and implementing programs.
Must have knowledge of Adobe and Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word,
Familiar with all NFHS requirements
Knowledge of NCAA eligibility requirements prefered
Knowledge of HHSAA rules prefered
Current Type II school bus drivers qualification
Current First Aid/CPR certification
Supervises, evaluates and directs the work of coaching staff and athletic personnel assigned to the IPA Athletic Department
