Bridgton Academy, a postgraduate boarding school for young men, located in the foothills of western Maine, seeks a qualified candidate to become our next Director of Academic Support.
The Director of Academic Support promotes the mission of Bridgton Academy by supporting students as they transition to college-level academic expectations. She or he is responsible for the enrollment, as well as the oversight, of the Academy’s Focused Academic Coaching (FAC) program. Additionally, the Director of Academic Support is a campus leader who helps provide professional development opportunities for the entire community with respect to learning styles and learning differences.
Position responsibilities include:
Working with students to create strategies to improve areas such as executive functioning, time management, and organizational skills;
Supervision and support of FAC faculty;
Implementation of academic support strategies for a wide ranging student population;
Coordinating with the Dean of Academics to identify and support struggling students;
Acting as a resource for faculty and staff regarding issues of student academic support;
Oversight of non-standard administration of campus-based SAT/ACT tests;
Reviewing academic profile of incoming students;
Working with college counseling staff to help students make informed college choices;
Coordination of NCAA education – impacting disability services applications;
Oversight of the ELL program;
Teaching appropriate class(es) and assume all the duties of other teaching faculty members;
Performing other duties associated with boarding school life.
A Bachelor’s degree in special education, education, counseling or similar field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
