RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES
The Transportation and Compliance Manager is responsible for the year-round management of the School’s carpool and bus program and ensures compliance with the school’s Conditional Use Permit (CUP) (as it relates to traffic) and the Transportation Demand Management Plan issued by the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation. He/she is the on-site point person for all questions and concerns related to transportation and must be on campus between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to monitor compliance with the School’s traffic policy. During times when transportation responsibilities are not as demanding, this individual will support the Plant Operations department and other functions of the school as needed.
Monitor compliance of vehicles entering campus during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times.
Follow up with families who are not complying with carpool/bus requirements
Ensure all carpool/bus information on the School’s website is accurate and up-to-date.
Plan carpool/bus communications for all constituencies in partnership with the Director of Communications.
Create and manage the distribution of carpool materials (e.g. placards) to families.
Field and resolve complaints/problems/conflicts and/or issues regarding all transportation matters including bus stops and routes.
Ensure Transportation vendor is aware of school policies and protocol, especially in relation to safety.
Conduct yearly trainings with Transportation vendor staff prior to the start of the school year
Compile, track and analyze carpool/bus participation data. Create associated reports as needed and report results to the Plant Operations Supervisor.
In conjunction with survey data, work with our bus vendor representative to analyze student demographics and confirm routes and stops.
Reserve and book buses for field trips using appropriate approval process and online system.
Bachelor’s degree preferred
The ability to track various pieces of information while having a “big picture” perspective.
Superior communications skills for interacting with prospective students and families.
Demonstrated organizational and project management skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations, including students, parents, and faculty.
Demonstrated cultural competency in the areas of diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and social justice.
Above average proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Flexibility to occasionally work long hours, including attendance at weekend and evening events.
