Lexington Christian Academy is accepting applications for an Assistant Resident Director. This position alongside LCA’s Resident Director will report to CFO and Director of Studies. This is a 12-month, live-in position, responsible for developing a balanced program of social, educational and recreational activities, training and supervising resident assistants and student leaders, managing discipline, developing hall governments and other student groups, communicating with parent, guardian and ed. consultants regarding students’ residential life needs, reporting repairs and maintenance needs, and the general administration of the residential area.
LCA’s North Campus is a unique hybrid operation of housing for LCA’s boarding students and residential staff and learning center for Summer, Thanksgiving and Spring break programs as well as year-round tutoring through Lexington Prep School (LCA-owned brand for academic support, enrichment and high school and college admission consulting).
LCA’s Residential Life Team consists of Residential Director, Assistant Residential Director and Residential Assistants. They play a key role in supporting students to develop healthy and productive routines that are foundational for academic, social, physical and emotional success of our boarding students.
5-7 years of experience working with teens in rigorous academic and/or boarding school environment preferred
A. or B.S. required
Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well both with adults and teens
Strong organizational skills, as well as being self-motivated and task-oriented
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google platform
Willingness and ability to lift ~50 lbs as needed
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Develop job descriptions and hiring criteria for Residential Life staff
Recruit and train Residential Life staff
Develop staff onboarding and training for academic year and Summer, Thanksgiving, and other school break programs
Analyze Residential Life workflow including but not limited to RA desk coverage, school shuttle operation, weekend activity coverage, etc. and optimize staffing
Supervise RAs, provide written annual performance evaluation and take disciplinary action and/or termination as needed in consultation with the Business Office
Develop, implement, coordinate and assess an ongoing intentional series of educational, developmental, social, and recreational programs
Advise and develop student leaders
Develop, coordinate (receive input from Director of Student Life and Director of Studies), and implement Residential Life student discipline and conduct policy
Train staff on disciplinary procedures and expectations
Discipline policy violators
Meet with all reported violators that reside in the facility, maintaining documentation for each case and providing appropriate information to appropriate LCA administrators
Investigate facts and establish disciplinary actions on cases in which the student accepts responsibility
On Call Responses and Counseling
Provide 24-hour availability for response to situations that develop in the residence hall or involve residence hall students. These situations include, but are not limited to emotional distress, discipline violations, threat of harm to self or others, accidents, serious injury or death, physical or mental illness.
Maintenance responses may also be required to coordinate emergency maintenance services after assessing the situation and making decisions on the appropriate action
Provide counseling, advising, conflict resolution, and referral to appropriate staff for students with a wide variety of concerns including but not limited to substance abuse, interpersonal conflicts, academic, or administrative concerns; counseling may be required at any time of availability
Coordinate front desk operations that are open nearly 24 hours per day to provide service and security for residents.
Provide timely feedback to the General Manager on the quality of the Dining room service, cleaning and laundry services, and overall state of the facility
Report and follow up on maintenance or housekeeping needs of the facility
Perform housekeeping inspections on routine basis and address student conduct accordingly
Maintain key control and room condition reports and support the General Manager with charging students against room security deposit when damage occurs
Develop effective and age-appropriate after-school study routines/schedule for all boarding students
Implement high quality supervision for daily study hall
Work with academic advisors and faculty to ensure all boarding students follow stay engaged with their academic work and intervene as needed when students who fall behind
Facilitate/participate with parental/guardian/ed. consultant communication regarding students’ academic needs
Support on-site and off-site tutoring activities for boarding students as needed

SALARY & BENEFITS:
Compensation for this full-time, 12-month position is based on room and board and additional cash compensation (negotiable, commensurating with experience and/or qualifications).
