The Langley School, a PS-8 independent school in McLean, Virginia, seeks a world language teacher to primarily teach middle school French and have the ability to potentially teach a few lower school Spanish classes beginning August 2018. World language teachers work collaboratively with members of their department as well as teachers in other disciplines to provide a rich and integrated program for our students. Langley’s world language program emphasizes both language acquisition and cultural understanding and is aligned with ACTFL standards. Langley’s students learn language through authentic experiences that develop their global competencies and enhance language acquisition.
Bachelor’s degree; experience working with middle school students; native or near-native fluency in French and/or Spanish; excellent written and verbal communication skills; willingness to collaborate with colleagues; facility with educational technology; and commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment required.
Please note: Ideally, we are looking for one full time teacher who can teach both languages but we are also interested in hearing from candidates who can only teach French.
