In the middle school, the Learning Specialist supports students and faculty in a variety of ways. They teach a Learning Enrichment class for 6th,7th and 8th grade which meets in lieu of a world language class. The course is designed to support study skills and directly support the work that students are doing in their other classes. In addition, the learning specialist teaches a study skills course for the 6th grade for half the year. In addition, the ideal candidate would have the following attributes: -Background, training, and/or degree in learning disabilities or a related field -Ability to connect with various constituencies - students, parents, and faculty -Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in various areas -Capacity to be flexible and creative as MS support services continue to grow -Capability to understand the big picture while making grassroots changes -Ability to interpret educational evaluations -Commitment to inclusivity and diversity
