The Facility Maintenance Tech is a part-time position (16hrs per week) supervised by the Director of Finance and Operations and reports directly to the Head of School. He/she is responsible for planning/organizing and performing the day-to-day activities related to maintenance, repairs and improvements to the physical plant at Grey Nun Academy (GNA). All work performed will be in compliance with the established local, state, and federal policies/regulations. He/she will participate in short-term and long-range planning for the schools repairs and preventative maintenance to make the most effective and efficient use of skills, facilities, and equipment available. Some work is performed outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions; other work is performed indoors at the Academy. Primary responsibilities include: performing the daily maintenance/repairs and improvements required of the facility, such maintenance/repairs include but are not limited to:
Working with vendors as needed
Repairing/replacing light fixtures
Replacing ceiling and floor tiles
Minor electrical work and plumbing
All other minor repairs needed as directed by the Director of Finance and Operations and/or the Head of School.
Must have a working knowledge of facilities maintenance.
Must have sufficient knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in all phases of building maintenance and custodial services, including a basic general knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC systems.
Must have a thorough knowledge of work hazards, safety procedures, OSHA requirements and public safety matters.
Must have the ability to take initiative and apply considerable ingenuity and practical knowledge to interpret and resolve new, unusual, or particularly troublesome situations.
Must have excellent communication skills and be able to read and interpret technical manuals and other materials pertaining to facility maintenance, equipment, systems and repair.
Must be able to write correspondence, memos and work schedules.
Must read emails daily and listen to voice mails daily – must respond accordingly and within 24 hours of email or voice mail.
Candidates must have a positive attitude and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Must possess a valid PA Driver’s license.
Background clearances required upon hiring.
Able to operate maintenance/custodial equipment
Able to climb stairs (continuous/80+ %)
Able to climb 10ft. ladder (continuous/80+ %)
Able to lift up to 60lbs
WORK HOURS: Work hours are based on operational need: Flexible -4 hours per day; 4 days per working week; 16hrs per week
