Dream AcadeME is actively recruiting a motivated and enthusiastically qualified Special Education Teaching Assistant & 1:1 Aide to join our dynamic, growing alternative education team. You will be work closely with teaching staff, parents, students, and program leadership. Our Special Education Teaching Assistants & 1:1 Aides are creative people who want to make a positive impact in the lives of students with special rights. You will work with a student 1:1 and will support the teachers and specialists to ensure the students' success.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a recognized non-profit alternative education organization and make a meaningful impact on our students' lives. Dream AcadeME currently serves 40+ students, ages 5 through 12, and provides educational programs for students of all needs in inclusive classroom homeschool settings.
Hours are Monday - Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm
Compensation is $16-$23/hour
Temporary Position April 9th through June 8th, with potential for long-term next school year
This is an independent contractor position

Responsibilities and Duties (but not limited to):
Job responsibilities include instructional and behavioral support as an Special Education Teaching Assistant & 1:1 Aide that will include:
Assist in implementing student behavior and support plans that allow the student to meet their goals, as well providing behavior redirection techniques when necessary.
Encourage, engage, and support students in the classroom, playground, vocational, and the community to maintain a positive environment that is conductive for learning and cooperation.
Collect data on student progress, based on behavior plans and goals.
Assist students in the development and maintenance of appropriate social behaviors, as well as interactions with others.
High School Diploma (minimum). Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
Strong written and verbal skills.
Experience in special education, education, early childhood development, psychology, or related field.
Able to quickly respond and adapt to challenging, fast-paced, dynamic environments.
This is an entry level position with continuous support and possible training.
Additional Salary Information: Rates are per hour

Dream AcadeME is an alternative education program focusing on personalized education through micro-schools, homeschools, tutoring, after-school, and summer camp programs. Each Dream AcadeME micro-school, homeschool, and after-school program varies slightly to meet the needs of each family or community. Nonetheless, the essential elements of the Dream AcadeME approach are streamlined and implemented throughout. In addition to focusing on core content areas and learner-centered STEAM activities, a day at Dream AcadeME will include a mindfulness activity, social-emotional skill building lessons, and ample time outdoors to explore and learn in nature.
