Latin School of Chicago is looking for a full-time Biology and Chemistry teacher within the Upper School Science Department beginning with the 2018-19 school year. The ideal candidate will value a student-centered approach to the teaching of science. Additionally, a strong candidate will have a master’s degree in education or related content field.
Minimally, this teacher will:
teach four classes within the science department
collaborate with a team of teachers on curriculum
reflect on teaching practice, sometimes trying new approaches to create an equitable and engaging experience for all students in science
value the opportunity to serve as a student advisor
work with students outside of class for extra help or enrichment
participate in our new-teacher mentoring program
effectively communicate departmental philosophy and student performance with parents in writing grade reports and conducting parent-teacher conferences
be an active member of the science department; participating in professional development opportunities, department meetings
be an active member of the Upper School division; participating in division-wide committees, seeking and creating opportunities to collaborate with faculty beyond the department
