We are seeking an Assistant Upper School Director reports to the Upper School Director in a partnership to lead the Upper School. The selected individual will have the opportunity to work with students in a meaningful and significant way. This individual must have a passion to work with students in a capacity to see them grow, hold them accountable.
Identify, implement, and monitor Upper School strategies that challenge high achievers and accelerates learning of all students.
Create a positive influence on the school’s culture and support the day to day operation of the Upper School.
Ensure students meet expectations as outlined in the Student Parent/Handbook, including school uniforms, attendance and code of conduct.
Collaborate and work effectively with multiple departments and members of the senior leadership team.
Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
Manage and lead an effective behavioral program which is based upon our Honor Code and school traditions.
Communicate with parents and families to share progress, as well as behavioral and academic opportunities for improvement.
Takes appropriate steps when employees do not meet performance expectations or engage in misconduct; encourages staff to engage in learning.
Evaluate student programs and make improvements to maintain alignment of The Summit’s mission.
Assist with safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years’ development experience. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
2 or more years’ relevant experience (in school administration preferred) and/or student instruction.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Strong written and verbal communication.
Knowledge of interdisciplinary principles and best practi
Demonstrated ability to coach, manage, and collaborate with adults from a diverse range of perspectives and backgrounds.
Ability to build strong relationships with staff, students, families, and the community
