The Whitby School, Inc. seeks an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program Coordinator in Greenwich, CT. This position works with and supports teachers and team leaders in interpreting and implementing the International Baccalaureate ("IB") Primary Years Program ("PYP") curriculum; promotes exemplary teaching practices; distributes information and ensures access to IB resources; ensures school adherence to IB standards, principles, and practices; develops and revises policy and curriculum documents with the school's leadership; researches professional development opportunities for teachers; maintains accurate school information on the IB information system; demonstrates IB PYP methodologies through modeling best practices in the classroom; provides professional development on IB PYP practices including assessments as well as sharing resources and experiences with colleagues; provides an IB PYP induction program for all new Lower School faculty members; provides IB workshops and information sessions for faculty members; supports staff with development of assessments directly related to IB curriculum outcomes, and assists staff with developing and implementing assessment strategies, portfolio assessments and conferences; supports and facilitates the Professional Learning Communities ("PLC") for faculty members; supports and facilitates the Professional Growth and Appraisal process for faculty members as it relates to IBPYP; coordinates the evaluation of the PYP, including self-study, team visits, and implements IB recommendations; assists the Head of Lower School with overseeing the Lower School's curriculum policies and implementing these policies according to the IB guidelines; assists with the preparation of information for parents; assists with organizing and leading parent introductory evenings, curriculum evenings and workshops for parents; and provides leadership for colleagues through mentoring and inducting new PYP teachers into the IBPYP program.
The minimum requirements for this position are possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Education plus four years of previous work experience as an IB PYP Classroom Teacher. This position also requires: completion of at least 30 hours of IB instructional workshop training at Categories 2 and 3; possession of fundamental understanding of the IBPYP as demonstrated by previous proven teaching ability in the classroom in international schools, curriculum leadership for grade level teams and development and documentation through samples of prior lesson plans and curriculum mapping involving transdisciplinary units of inquiry including the PYP essential elements (knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes, action); and ability to use Atlas Rubicon for curriculum mapping.
