Connelly School of the Holy Child is seeking a full-time, growth-minded Science teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. The ideal candidate should have interest in teaching highly motivated students in a faith-based, all-girls school, which values not only intellectual pursuits but also building strong relationships and community. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator who is comfortable using a variety of pedagogical strategies and enjoys working collaboratively to develop and plan curricula. Successful candidates must have a proven record of engaging students in class discussions, fostering critical thinking, writing skills and inspiring a love of learning.
Genuine enthusiasm about science and expert knowledge of life sciences in order to make abstract ideas concrete and relevant to students

The ability to teach all levels of science, and experience teaching AP level courses to students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
The ability to integrate digital tools in the science laboratory and classroom, such as the application of digital probes and associated software

The ideal applicant would either have experience with or be open to training in the Holy Child model of educating the whole person, through creative lessons that support the growth of each student and inspire her to take risks to meet her full potential.
In addition, an applicant should have a bachelor’s degree in biology or related field as a minimum, and have taken courses in secondary education pedagogy.
Experience and advanced degree preferred, as well as active commitment to enhancing a school community through involvement on committees and in student life activities.
Responsibilities include teaching a combination of life science courses with an emphasis on biology and environmental sciences per the Next Generation Science Standards, advising a small group of students and serving as a member of a school committee.
Connelly School of the Holy Child Founded in 1961 by the Society of the Holy Child Jesus as a college preparatory school for girls grade 6-12. The school is part of a network of 33 Holy Child schools in the United States, Europe and Africa, which is guided by the educational philosophy of Cornelia Connelly. Holy Child enrolls approximately 300 students every year from the Washington, DC metropolitan area as well as across the globe. Holy Child creates a personal learning experience with an 8 to 1 student to faculty ratio and offers fine arts programs as well as competitive sports teams in soccer, field hockey, volleyball, basketball, cross country lacrosse and more.
Service is part of the Holy Child curriculum and students last year completed 5,000 hours of community service.
