Saddle River Day School is seeking a dynamic and engaging Lower School Music Teacher. The primary duties of the position will be teaching general music classes to grades Pre-K through 4th Grade and directing our two Lower School choirs. The Lower School duties will comprise teaching approximately eight periods per week. In addition, the Lower School Music Teacher will be assigned duties as a piano accompanist for the Middle and Upper School choirs.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in music, preferably in music education with a specialty in early childhood education. Excellent piano skills are required. Our Lower School music curriculum includes elements of Orff-Schulwerk and Kodaly Method. Our Fourth Grade students all study and perform on recorders. The ideal candidate will bring a sense of joy and fun to our Lower School music classes and choral performances. Excellent classroom management skills and a teaching style that engages and inspires young students are a must.
Saddle River Day School has a fully developed choral and instrumental music program, and the arts are an integral part of the school’s curriculum and identity.
