St. Matthew’s Parish School is seeking an experienced Upper School (Grades 5-8) English teacher for the 2018-19 school year. The position involves teaching sections of Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh grade English, including lesson planning and grading. The ideal candidate would be an important catalyst in creating transition and foundation for the emerging middle school learner. Candidates must have a strong understanding of child development, enjoy young adolescents, and display a passion for literature and the writing process. Candidates should enjoy collaborating with colleagues and engaging in the entire Upper School experience. Additionally, Upper School teachers serve as advisors to a small group of students and become involved with co-curricular programs such as service learning or overnight student trips.

Compensation will be determined by years of teaching experience and other relevant qualifications. Teachers' salaries at St. Matthew’s are highly competitive, set to be on average in the top quartile of leading independent schools.
