The Co-Director of Student Life engages all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and initiatives related to the day to day operation of the school, with a focus on student behavior, mission integration, and leadership. The Co-Director of Student Life is an advocate for students, fosters a positive and supportive educational environment built on trust and safety of the whole child with a focus on the school’s core values and school mission.
The Co-Director of Student Life provides strategic leadership and vision in helping create an accepting, empathetic environment and ensures that the mission of the school is integrated into all aspects of school life. This position will work with the Co-Director of Student Life-Student Support, Director of Student Activities, and the Campus Ministry team to support students and create growth opportunities for students in a variety of areas.
Has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the mission, vision and core values of Carondelet High School and embodies these mission values in interactions with students, parent/guardians, and colleagues.
The Co-Director of Student Life inspires excellence, responds to the needs of the time, and makes a positive difference by preparing young women to live with heart, faith and courage in the Catholic tradition.
Understands the uniqueness of each student, strives to awaken minds, and guides students in faith, hope, and growth in the spirit of the Sisters of Saint Joseph.
Works closely with Carondelet High School’s students, parent guardians, faculty and staff and, at times, outside professionals and neighbors of Carondelet High School in resolving issues and concerns.
Models humble leadership, provides leadership and support, embraces possibility, and yearns to make a positive difference in the lives of all Carondelet students.
Works as an advocate and facilitator and implements behavioral policies for students while overseeing the basic quality of life of all Carondelet students

Creates a school environment of unity, harmony, cooperation and high morale through tact, helpfulness, respect, and a recognition of individual differences and the special abilities and strengths of each student.

Builds and maintains positive relationships with staff, parents, and community members
Assists in creating professional development opportunities related to student behavior, school culture, and mission integration and takes advantage of professional growth opportunities as a life-long learner.
Maintains strict confidentiality related to students, school families, and alumnae.
Establishes, enforces, and reviews guidelines for student behavior, including dress code and attendance. This includes record keeping via PS and proactively communicating with faculty/staff, parents, etc. related to ongoing behavioral and attendance issues.
Supervises all areas of campus with an emphasis on creating a positive environment during breaks, passing periods, lunch, X blocks and at all-school gatherings.
Assists in directing traffic during the school day and during special events.
Creates and monitors supervision assignments and chaperones for faculty/staff, often working in conjunction with the Director of Student Activities for student events.
Participates in student success, student support and student intervention meetings as needed.
Works with Director of Student Activities to ensure a mission focus in student orientations.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal, or Vice Principal of Student Affairs
Creates communication items for all publics via Schoology, announcements, and ENews.
Creates learning and reflection opportunities related to Mission at faculty meetings, professional development days, orientations and for new faculty/staff. Works with religion department to create awareness of CSJ history, presence and mission for student body.
Creates outreach programming with other CSJ high schools around the country, the Carondelet Center, and coordinates and leads leadership opportunities and student interactions with CSJ programs.
Is the point person and coordinates mission-centered events and CSJ events with CSJ leadership and the CSJ Institute, such as the annual convocation, CSJ national conference of high schools, etc.
Coordinates environmental sustainability efforts for the school, including education, programming, monitoring and developing initiatives that are student-centered.
Works with Campus Ministry personnel to coordinate the Corazon Retreat program, and coordinates all aspects of the Mother-Daughter Retreat event.
Works with Director of Student Activities and Director of Campus Ministry, as needed, on existing mission-centered events throughout the school year.
Participates in and, in some cases, assists with coordination and planning of, various student-centered retreat experiences, including Alpha, Corazon, Shalom, Kairos, Ven-a-Ver experiences, Urban Plunge, etc.
Participates in the Frosh student advisory program.
Demonstrates a passion and energy that embodies the CSJ tradition and Catholic culture of Carondelet High School.
Is a positive and engaged member of the school community who collaborates across departments to inspire and lead mission integration.
Demonstrates active listening and strong interpersonal skills in order to create successful, positive, and result driven behavioral outcomes.
Demonstrates high emotional intelligence that reflects self-confidence and facilitation techniques toward conflict resolution.
Must be proactive.
Is a critical thinker who effectively uses data to drive decision-making.
Is steeped in current research and continually takes advantage of educational opportunities related to all areas of responsibility.
Is technologically savvy.
Reports to the Vice Principal of Student Affairs on issues related to student discipline and behavior and to the Principal on issues related to mission integration.

Prefer 3-5 years as a Director of Student Life or a position of leadership in an educational environment.
Background in Catholic faith formation, spiritual development, creating a mission-centered organizational focus.
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution with advanced degree preferred.
Successful completion of a background and drug screen.
Experience in managing people in complex interpersonal environments.
Proficient in balancing multiple duties and responsibilities; Acute organizational skills and attention to detail; Adept at communicating with students, teachers, and parents on a wide variety of topics.
Creativity in problem solving and in programming.
Outstanding leadership and communication skills; able to properly handle a full range of interpersonal interactions with a diverse population of students and staff.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, data base use.
