Andrews Osborne Academy is seeking an experienced English & History Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. This is a full-time position and the ideal candidate would have experience teaching English and History to students in grades 6-8.
The successful candidate must possess the interest and energy to thrive within a lively workplace, a genuine appreciation of children and adolescents, a sense of humor and the ability to work in a highly collaborative and collegial environment, as well as be comfortable incorporating the use of various technologies to support student learning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Key duties for faculty members include classroom instruction, effective communication with students, parents and colleagues, and active participation in the work of the division and departments on curriculum and pedagogy
Teach English & History courses to students in the Middle School
Flexibility, optimism, creativity, high expectations, and a growth mindset
Enthusiastic involvement in the school community outside the classroom
Proven positive working relationships with colleagues, students and families
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Bachelor's degree in English, History, or Social Science required, Master’s degree preferred
Teaching experience at the Middle School level - preferably at an Independent School
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in both subject matter and methodology.
Experience in the development and implementation of writing across the curriculum helpful.
