Pingree is currently seeking applicants for a part-time Visual Arts Teacher in the Art Department. We are looking for energetic and versatile candidates who possess a passion for and broad experience in the field of visual arts as well as a desire to work collaboratively in a dynamic and collegial department of artist-teachers. The responsibilities of the position will include working with the visual arts faculty in teaching a 3D art rotation of a full-credit foundational Freshman arts survey course, and additional elective visual art courses that may include sculpture, digital art, illustration or other areas of the candidate’s expertise. We are interested in candidates who are familiar with contemporary practices in the art world and those with a desire to connect to and collaborate with other disciplines inside and outside the arts. The successful candidate will be deeply invested in a student-centered and process-intensive approach to art pedagogy, will have enthusiasm and appreciation for working with adolescents of a wide range of art experience, and will desire to take imaginative risks and to innovate in their teaching. Candidates should be motivated to work with the Art Department faculty in furthering enthusiasm for the visual arts in a school community with a thriving and evolving arts program.

Potential candidates should have experience teaching studio art at the secondary school level.
A B.F.A in visual arts or a B.A. in art education is required. Applicants should be familiar with recent scholarship in art as well as current teaching practices including the application of new methodologies and technologies in the classroom.
