Middle School Mathematics Faculty Seattle, WA
Full time– Salary scale based on experience
The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Middle School Mathematics team to teach Mathematics in the sixth grade as a Full time teacher. We are looking for a candidate who can support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that displays and proves an understanding of cultural fluency. A qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and tasks as listed below:
Create and sustain classroom culture based on mission and values of the school
Collaborate and work constructively with colleagues
Prepare and deliver effective mathematics instruction for seventh to eighth grade students in a schedule that meets for two one hour and thirty minute periods and one forty-minute period each week
Teach students mathematics in an environment where students are challenged and encouraged to learn
Differentiate instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs
Support students in the development of good mathematical habits, content knowledge and skills
Develop a responsive, student-centered classroom community that fosters engagement, inquiry, risk-taking, and confidence
Contribute to a progressive education environment where students are encouraged to learn by doing
Engage in professional development focused on Middle School Math curricula
Attend and contribute constructively to faculty and community meetings
Participate in the development of the whole child by guiding students in advisory, academics, and Middle School experience
Participate in and assist in organizing the experiential programs that occur weekly E-lective periods and one week in Spring
Participate productively with colleagues in one Middle School and one K-12 committee
Work with learning coordinator to support varying learning styles and needs in the classroom
Create and sustain effective parent/guardian partnerships
Collaborate with school counselor to establish and maintain social emotional learning and wellness for all students
Experience in teaching – 3-5 years minimum preferred
A bachelor’s degree
A graduate degree preferred
Teacher certification preferredPersonal Qualifications for the Successful candidates:
Capacity and desire to engage in experiential activities and programs with students
Effective and timely communication skills (verbally and in writing) with administrators, colleagues, staff and families that sustain constructive and professional relationships
Finds joy in promoting a lifelong love of learning and in working with children
