Upper School English Faculty Seattle, WA
80% - salary scale based on experience
The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Upper School team to teach English. This person will be energetic, flexible, and committed to working with students both inside and outside the classroom. We are looking for a candidate who can support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that displays and proves an understanding of cultural fluency. A qualified candidate will also be an active writer, with experience instructing the writing process, including creative writing and personal narrative, and able to manage the key responsibilities and tasks listed below:
Teach both writing and literature-based classes, including, but not limited to, upper-level term electives ranging from Study of the Novel to Poetry and Vignettes
Collaborate with other faculty members to develop and implement an interdisciplinary, multicultural, and experiential curriculum
Lead an advisory group and teach an AMP or other experiential class each trimester
Be open to participating in conversations and programs that promote intercultural fluency
Be a strong communicator, both verbally and in written comments, with both students and parents
Successful candidates will have:
Experience in teaching – 3-5 years minimum preferred
A bachelor’s or graduate degree in English literature
Skill in the use of technology, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work on a team – grade level, department, and division
