Summary of Duties:
Manages the library collection of materials and equipment which include assessing needs, preparing related budgets, ordering and processing new materials, maintaining an environment where materials are readily accessible to students and teachers, keeping collections current with the most appropriate, up-to-date material available, possibly serve as the tri-campus Systems Administrator, serves as Library Consortium lead, and spearheads emerging information technology and library management systems for tri-campus Learning Centers.
Coordinates and participates in the planning and teaching of information literacy and research skills for all library users which include appreciation of resources, information access and retrieval, utilization and evaluation resources.
Serves as an information resource specialist to assist teachers in developing units of study focusing on instruction objectives and strategies by providing appropriate resource materials, electronic information resources, databases, LibGuides, orientation to Follett, and other tools, library resources, and services.
Works closely with supervisor to coordinate the selection and acquisition of materials for the general collection reserve or special collections and evaluates current collection for retention, replacement, deletion, weeding or shifting as needed.
Classifies, catalogs and organizes library materials for maximum accessibility and availability.
Assists with the planning, implementation and evaluation of the library media center program and services that support classroom objectives.
Master's degree in Library Science or Education.
Summary of Minimum Requirements:
Minimum 3 years' experience in a directly related field.
Knowledge of current principles, practices and techniques for school librarianship, educational philosophy and information technologies.
Ability to relate effectively with library users (students, teachers, staff, etc.) and work as part of a team; ability to maintain a high level of profession integrity; ability to develop, implement and coordinate programs and services to support a variety of instructional objectives.
Good interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with individual or small groups of students.
