Williamsburg Northside School is seeking an experienced Pre-Kindergarten co-teacher. This is a full-time position starting in March, 2018. New staff members join a team of dedicated educators and passionate children and families.
Founded in 1999 as a progressive preschool, Williamsburg Northside Schools (WNS) today offers three distinct programs in the culturally dynamic and diverse Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. Programs are provided for infants and toddlers, preschoolers, and Lower School students through the fifth grade. In the last year, WNS has made two exciting announcements. First, the school plans to add a Middle School, beginning with the introduction of sixth grade in the fall of 2018. Second, the school has recently appointed a new Head of School, Elizabeth “Elie” Déu.

Teachers at Williamsburg Northside are responsible for understanding, respecting and working with Northside’s mission as a guide. Teachers will have a strong working knowledge of Early Childhood and/or Childhood development, NYC Department of Health (DOH) regulations, NYC Department of Education (when applicable), and will translate this philosophy into the daily program, relationships with children, adults, and the classroom environment. Teachers will lead and manage his/her assigned students and teaching team.
The co-teacher position is a great opportunity for an entry level teacher who is willing to learn, excited to grow their career, and learn alongside an expert team of teachers. The position will require participation in a collaborative approach with their assigned teaching team and other faculty and staff in planning and executing developmentally appropriate learning opportunities and activities. They will consult, cooperate, and confer with other teachers, co-teachers, mentors, administrators and parents/guardians in the education, care and development of each child. They will promote safety; assuring a clean, safe, healthy environment for the children enrolled at Northside. Teachers will collaborate with staff in providing consistency for the children including preparing activities prior to the arrival of children, following the daily routine, communicating with families appropriately, and writing journals and progress reports.
