St. Michael’s Country Day School is a non-profit, independent PS to 8th grade day school in Newport, RI. The school has opened a search for a Middle School Director (grades 5 through 8) for the 2018-2019 school year.

The school seeks an innovative educational leader who can work effectively with an outstanding, experienced faculty. The Middle School Director serves as a member of the school’s senior administrative team working closely alongside the Lower School Director and reporting directly to the Head of School. The Middle School Director is responsible for all aspects of the Middle School program.
The Search Committee is looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
A strong understanding of the cognitive and developmental needs of middle school students;
Leadership skills for students, faculty, and parents in an independent school setting;
An ability to work collaboratively with colleagues;
Strong verbal and written communication skills;
An understanding of, appreciation for, and commitment to 21st century learning skills;
Development of a strong working relationship with an experienced middle school faculty and staff;
An ongoing personal commitment to professional development.
Middle School Director candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and teaching experience; an advanced degree is preferable. Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills as well as an aptitude and commitment to technology.
