The Primary School Motor Teacher serves as a member of the physical education department and facilitates an age appropriate indoor and outdoor learning environment. The motor teacher works with children 2-5 years old to develop motor skills and associated language development in the Primary School. Like all faculty, the motor teacher must possess strong speaking, listening, writing and technology skills to communicate with parents. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate gross motor skill development is expected. The Motor Teacher will engage students in physical activities that strengthen their space, body awareness and movement abilities. The motor teacher will prepare, setup and take down the materials and equipment necessary for a high quality and age appropriate motor development curriculum. While developing and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, and faculty members, the Primary School motor teacher will recognize and coach the social-emotional needs of each student. Like other enrichment team members, the motor teacher will work closely with classroom teachers to integrate classroom project work and activities into the motor curriculum. While also serving as a member in the Athletics department, it is expected that all full-time physical education department members will coach three seasons or coach two seasons and teach one MSPE class and will serve as a program lead coach in a minimum of one season.
