Job Title: Coordinator of Student-Athlete Development / Physical Education Faculty / Coach
The Coordinator of Student-Athlete Development / Physical Education Faculty / Coach assists in the academic, athletic and personal growth of the student-athlete. Teaches Physical Education classes. Serves as a Coach of the Interscholastic Athletics program.
Supervisor: Assistant Director of Athletics
Supervisory Responsibilities: NA
Position Status: This is a salaried, exempt, full-time, regular, 10-month position.
Hours of Work: Standard work week. Evening and weekend work is required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Coordinator of Student-Athlete Development
Provide leadership, organization and supervision for 2 PE classes;
Implement and maintain a standard of safety and discipline within the classroom;
Work directly with other Physical Education teachers as part of a PLC;
Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Coach
Provide leadership, organization and supervision for all practices and contests;
Implement and maintain a standard of performance consistent with the institution’s goals of athletic excellence;
Direct the activity of assistant coaches;
Conduct the program within the rules and regulations of the GHSA;
Manage the program within the parameters of an approved budget;
Assist in organizing home and away travel contest arrangements;
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred;
Previous media relations experience;
Working knowledge of computer and statistical programs;
Strong writing, organizational, administrative and communication skills;
Ability to work effectively with students, staff, faculty and community members;
Knowledge of GHSA rules and regulations
CPR and First Aid Certified
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
Travel is primarily local during the regular business day. Overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required.
