Germantown Academy, located in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, is seeking qualified, experienced candidates for the position of Director of After School Programs, beginning as soon as possible. Reporting to the Head of Lower School and Director of Operations, the Director of Afterschool Programs (SPARK) is responsible for all aspects of the program during the school year and will provide leadership for key areas of summer Day Camp.
Assure safety, care of, and well-being of all students enrolled in the SPARK/ASAP and Day Camp programs.
Develop and implement the structure, family handbook, student expectations, schedule and curriculum components for the programs.
Hire, train and supervise all program staff and faculty who participate in the program offerings.
Oversee and supervise student disciplinary issues including communication with parents regarding ongoing issues.
Assist with communication, marketing, programming and staffing for all Full Day SPARK programs.
Ensure that programs have appropriate spaces designated to meet program goals.
Ensure that SPARK areas are set up for activities and that areas are cleaned up and materials are put away at the end of the day.
Develop and implement attendance procedures for program by maintaining an accurate database of all program participants through the ACTIVE program (including student/parent information, registered activities, special dismissal arrangements and health and safety information)
Support parents in the use of the online system to assure that the registration process is accurate and user-friendly.
Oversee daily forms for class rosters, attendance and sign out.
Maintain daily financial records for all students and submit monthly reports to the Director of Operations detailing charges.
Submit employee time sheets to Business Office.
Assist, as a team member of Auxiliary Programs, as needed with the School Store, Child Care, and school functions.
Work cooperatively with the Auxiliary program staff on duties related to the operations of Summer Programs specifically related to human resources and personnel.
Assist in the direct care of students as well as other administrative duties including, but not limited to,
Staff scheduling and staff supervision
Ordering and maintenance of supplies
Developing and overseeing dismissal procedures
Providing clear and consistent communication to parents, participants and staff.
Organized, professional and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to oversee multiple staff.
Administrative competence in human resources.
College degree in Education or Recreational Management or job related experience.
Proficient in office technology especially Microsoft Excel.
