Castilleja seeks to hire an enthusiastic Upper School Spanish Teacher (primarily 11th and 12th grades) for the first semester of the 2018-2019 school year with the possibility of an extension beyond the first semester. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years prior classroom experience, as well as experience teaching at the AP level. The candidate will demonstrate proficiency with technology in and out of the classroom and possess an understanding of adolescent girls and adolescent issues. A Bachelor's degree is required and an advanced degree is highly preferred.

This teacher will report to the Head of the World Languages Department and will work closely with the other Spanish teachers, as well as with other faculty within the department. The teacher is responsible for planning and teaching two sections of AP Spanish Language and one section of AP Spanish Literature. The teacher is expected to have experience using a variety of technology both in and out of the classroom.

Constructs effective oral and written communication in all classes, and encourages careful listening skills
Utilizes challenging, thoughtful, fair, and varied devices appropriate to the objectives of the course for evaluating and assessing student progress, performance and proficiency
Incorporates appropriate and varied methods, materials, and technologies into teaching
Incorporates topics appropriate to the developmental needs and the age of the students
Returns students’ work in a timely fashion with prescriptive comments
Responds to evaluations from supervisors and students professionally and constructively
Master’s Degree in Spanish or teaching certification preferred
Committed to academic excellence, exceptional teaching, and providing a dynamic climate for lifelong learning
