Master’s degree in school counseling, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, or related field with emphasis in education
A minimum of 2 years supervised counseling experience and 3 years direct work in the field
Knowledge of current principles techniques, and objectives of school counseling, educational philosophy, and psychology; educational tests and research methods
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Collaborate with colleagues to provide educational, social, behavioral, and personal counseling to students in grades 5-8
Assist students, families, and faculty in solving problems, facilitating student learning, and providing parent education on topics of interest
Develop and implement school-wide, grade-level, group, and individual behavioral support programs; one-on-ones and small groups as needed
Co-teach health education and life skills curriculum courses in grades 5-8
Consult with the division head and teachers regarding student plans; be available for student and family support meetings
Help design and implement the advisory program
Visit classrooms for onsite observation
Meet and confer with other school counselors and psychologists regularly; represent SF Day at conferences/workshops as appropriate
