St. Paul’s Episcopal School, located across from Lake Merritt in Oakland, enrolls 380 boys and girls from diverse backgrounds in Kindergarten - Grade 8. St. Paul’s seeks to fill the Physical Education Teacher position, for the 2018-2019 academic year, with an experienced, dynamic individual who:
has attained a BA degree and credential (mandatory)
can create a developmentally appropriate cooperative learning environment,
has experience integrating thematic units across the curriculum,
has 3-5 years experience teaching K-8 (preferred)
has experience working in a private/independent school setting
can provide opportunities for sharing knowledge with others,
has excellent communication skills with both children and adults,
able to handle transitions effectively,
can provide a non-competitive environment in which students
will build a knowledge of sports and games,
can provide an inclusive curriculum to help students achieve a personal level of physical fitness,
has the ability and experience to coach Middle School sports (required),
ability to teach swimming,
values collegiality with other teachers and administrators,
has a warm and energetic personality and a good sense of humor
In addition to teaching Physical Education during the school day, the position also includes coaching after school middle school sports teams.
