Cary Academy is seeking an accomplished, imaginative and team-oriented science educator to teach a combination of foundational classes in biology, chemistry and/or physics in our Upper School. The ability to teach an advanced course in one or more of these areas would be considered a plus. Cary Academy offers a robust program of study in science aimed at developing students who are confident, independent learners, who recognize how science permeates the world around them and who appreciate the evolution of scientific ideas and methods and their impact on society. Students practice science as inquiry, using collaborative research and problem-solving strategies and communicating through graphic, verbal and mathematical representations. All courses provide extensive laboratory experience, both inside and outside of the classroom. To further strengthen our science program, Cary Academy has begun construction of a new 8-lab science building targeted for completion by Fall 2018.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in the content area (advanced degree preferred). Experience: At least 3 years of full-time teaching experience in the content area with Upper School students. Equivalency: Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience may be considered in place of the above.
