The Vice President for Institutional Advancement will first and foremost be a development executive of exceptional skill, impeccable ethics, extraordinary experience, inspirational leadership and will be responsible for all development, fundraising, and marketing activities across the school. Gulliver is poised to enter an exciting period of growth and advancement, allowing the new Vice President for Institutional Advancement to make a significant impact on philanthropy at Gulliver, bringing best practices to one of the largest PreK-12 schools in the country. Gulliver is financially very strong with an annual operating budget in excess of $75 million and full enrollment.
The Vice President for Institutional Advancement is an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned fundraiser to partner with new leadership at a pivotal time in the school’s history as it sets direction for its next phase of growth. The Vice President will be able to think strategically to envision, plan, execute, and achieve results in a complex educational environment.
The Vice President for Institutional Advancement will serve as the school’s Chief Advancement Officer and a member of the Executive Leadership Team. The position, reporting directly to the President and working closely with key Board leadership, will be responsible for overall strategic direction and management of the school’s advancement activities. He or she will supervise a talented and enthusiastic staff of development professionals and will have direct responsibility for an annual giving program of approximately $1.3 million that seeks support from a variety of sources (individual, corporate, foundation, and special events), as well as planned giving, endowment, and capital fundraising objectives.
Areas of Emphasis
Provide leadership and vision for the overall operations of the Advancement Team;
Manage a staff of 18 highly motivated and experienced professionals;
Create and maintain strong relationships with the Board of Trustees;
Engage the Board and provide strong staff leadership on all matters relating to advancement;
Create and maintain strong relationships with donors, prospects and other constituency groups;
Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to articulate and execute a strategic marketing plan;
Strengthen alumni relations by working with the Director of Alumni Relations to create programs to foster relationships with former students and to unite alumni, parents, and the school in a sense of shared experience and common purpose;
Possess strong advocacy skills and a collaborative team leader who promotes transparency and encourages the development and execution of new ideas;
Possess strong communication skills;
Prepare and execute with the Director of Philanthropy and Strategic Partnerships an annual development plan with clear fundraising goals;
Report to the President on progress of all fundraising events and campaigns and provide other reports and statements as requested.

Bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree preferred;
Ten or more years of development experience in increasingly responsible roles in a complex development program;
Experience in strategizing and executing a comprehensive capital campaign;
Strong interest in education, with independent school experience preferred;
A track record as a successful leader and manager of people with an empowering leadership style that optimizes the contributions of everyone around him or her.
