Buffalo Seminary is an independent day and boarding high school for college-bound girls. Founded in 1851, SEM is located in the historic Elmwood Village neighborhood of Buffalo, New York and is registered on the National Register of Historic Places. Our five student and faculty residences are renovated historic homes adjacent to our school building. Buffalo Seminary seeks a full-time teacher of English with a start date of August 2018. Our English Department stresses the fundamentals of analytical writing and critical thinking: we value teachers who are prepared to teach the principles of college-level writing in a student-centered pedagogical environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong English and composition background, and is willing to teach American Literature from a multicultural perspective in a discussion-based, seminar-style classroom. Applicants should possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, though Master's degree is preferred in an appropriate field. Experience teaching non-native English speakers is also preferred.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate enthusiasm for all-girls education and will embrace diversity and support our inclusive community.
