Cary Academy is seeking an accomplished and imaginative educator and experienced, team-oriented leader to serve as Assistant Head of Upper School. The Assistant Head of Upper School supports the Head of Upper School in the day-to-day operations of grades 9-12, helping to ensure that the Upper School program fosters respect, integrity and compassion and nurtures leadership and student involvement. As a teacher, the Assistant Head of Upper School serves as a model and mentor for other teachers, sharing his or her passion for his or her content area with students in engaging and meaningful ways that that inspire inquiry and an enduring love of learning. The Assistant Head of Upper School also contributes to the school’s rich extracurricular program and participates actively in the life of our learning community.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a content area (advanced degree preferred). Experience: At least 8 years of full-time teaching experience with Upper School students, including at least 3 years administrative experience in a teacher-leader role involving either academics or student life. Equivalency: Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience may be considered in place of the above.
