AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts, with campuses in New York City and Hollywood, is one of the foremost post-secondary performing arts colleges in the country. The High School Summer Conservatory at AMDA offers a variety of programs to dedicated and determined high school students who are serious about a career in the performing arts. Our programs are truly global, welcoming students from all 50 states and over 40 different countries each year.
AMDA is currently seeking an outstanding educator/administrator to provide general program management for the High School Summer Conservatory, located on our New York campus.
The NYC Summer Program Site Co-Director reports to the Director of Summer Programs, manages a large operations team, and supports faculty, all in a 24/7 residential education context. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to spend the summer living on campus in the heart of NYC, working with passionate young artists from all over the world, and supporting their learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. The NY Program Site Co-Director serves as the point person for all aspects of day-to-day operations for the NY program. The ideal candidate is an inspiring and highly effective leader who is caring and fully conscious of adolescent development/needs. He or She is both knowledgeable and experienced in maintaining a set of strong risk management policies. Finally, this individual is tech-savvy and fastidiously detail oriented.
Contribute to operations and general program planning
Oversee staff and student safety, both on and off campus
Supervise large residential staff (Program Life Manager(s), Health Team, Lead Counselors, and Counselors)
Support faculty and curriculum to ensure positive learning environment
Assure that equipment and facilities are safely and properly prepared and maintained for use by program participants and staff
Communicate with students, parents and all AMDA faculty/staff in a positive and effective manner
Coordinate with all program stakeholders to ensure that the master schedule is accurate and fully utilized
Plan/Support operations for orientations, field trips, performances, auditions, film-shoots, studio days, and rehearsals
Supervise daily residential and commuter student life, including travel, dorm-life, and meals
Provide daily reports for Director of Summer Programs, and additional oral/written reports as required
Superior student/parent communication skills
3+ Years education staff supervision experience
3+ Years experience in residential education environment preferred
Experience with scheduling or schedule management
Risk management implementation experience
Available for Part-Time planning work from 3/19/18 – 6/8/18 (working remotely will be considered for Part-Time)
Available for Full-Time on campus, program management from 6/11/18 – 8/17/18
Available to live on campus from 6/11/18 – 8/17/18
BA + High School Teacher or Administrator Certification
