The Roxbury Latin School, a 373-year-old independent day school serving 300 boys in Grades 7-12, is seeking an experienced secondary, undergraduate, or graduate teacher to serve as the Robert P. Smith International Scholar in Residence during the 2018-19 school year. The Smith International Scholar will teach the first semester of a full-year elective on Contemporary Global Issues in the History Department, from late August through mid-December 2018. The school invites applications from scholars with expertise in areas such as race relations, the refugee crisis, human rights, and global conflict (including 21st century warfare). To raise student awareness of the issues of our day, the Smith Scholar will explore political, military, and economic forces not only through dialogue in the classroom but also through occasional lectures to the full school community. Specific terms of the appointment will be determined in consultation with Roxbury Latin’s Headmaster, Mr. Kerry Brennan. The ideal candidate will already have reason to be in the Boston area, so that appointment to this fellowship will serve as a stimulating complement to his/her other professional responsibilities in Boston. Interested applicants should submit a cover letter explaining their interest in the fellowship along with a resume to: Dr. Philip Kokotailo, Dean of Faculty, The Roxbury Latin School, 101 St. Theresa Avenue, West Roxbury, MA 02132 or email@example.com.
