Green Trees Early Childhood Village
Green Trees is the early childhood division within Isidore Newman School. The school offers full-day and half-day programs for children ages six weeks to four-years-old from August through May, with summer camp options available in June and July. With a total enrollment of 154 children and supported by a talented team of forty educators, we strive to develop children's ability to think critically and creatively in a safe, stimulating and rigorous learning environment.
The Associate Teacher works alongside the lead teacher to facilitate the educational and social development of the students. The teachers work together to meet the differentiated needs of our students. The Associate teacher gives input on lesson planning and is instrumental in teaching students by offering support with small group and individual instruction and, in some cases, leading whole class lessons.
The essential functions related to this role are:
Co-lead a classroom of 10-16 students including small group and whole group instruction
Maintain attendance and daily routine records for all children
Maintain an orderly classroom environment
Assume responsibilities of Mentor Teacher in his/her absence when necessary
Substitute in other classrooms and with other age groups as deemed necessary by the Assistant Director or Director
Implement project plans as directed by the Mentor Teacher
Collaborate with Mentor Teacher on student assessment and progress using online tools for tracking developmental targets on a daily and weekly basis.
Contribute to weekly blogs and newsletters to parents
Support Mentor Teacher in planning and executing progress conferences with parents twice per year.
Develop lesson plans for Later Gators, the Aftercare program at Green Trees
Assume lead teaching responsibilities during the Later Gator Aftercare program
The Associate Teacher at Green Trees Early Childhood Village also has the responsibility to create:

Collaborate with Mentor Teacher and Teacher's Assistant in implementing instructional plans and leading small and whole group instruction
Collaborate with Mentor Teacher to oversee operation/management of classroom
Ongoing Student Assessment
Conduct daily observation of student learning
Document student learning and development through picture and video daily and weekly
Responsive and Authentic Parent/Community Engagement
Build positive relationships with parents
Attend school events at the request of the Assistant Director or Director
Intentional Organization and Planning
Organize materials and environment to allow for optimal engagement.
Align instructional practices to a vision of excellent teaching in early childhood environments.
Demonstrate a willingness and openness to being coached consistently by the Mentor Teacher
Implement feedback based on observational data
Community of Professionalism
Develop a professional growth plan for the year including short-term and long-term goals
Commit to professional responsibilities associated with the Associate Teacher role

Excellent communication skills
Adept at building positive relationships with students, parents and teachers
Thoughtful and reflective
Bachelor's Degree in education or related field
If not in education, Bachelor's degree in unrelated field with Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential is required.
Minimum of three years teaching experience in an early childhood education program preferred.
Proven experience working on a teaching team
Must meet and maintain any and all federal, state and local requirements to work in an educational childcare setting.
