Riverstone International School is seeking a highly qualified, experienced person to join the English department faculty. This position is in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for Grades 8, 9 and 10.
Riverstone’s small class sizes and emphasis on writing and critical thinking call for a teacher with a demonstrated love of literature, an ability to model and scaffold writing experiences, and a love for guiding and coaching young writers and critical thinkers.
We desire candidates with wilderness leadership experience with students of all ages, and value most those with experience with Middle and High School students.
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in English or similar degree
2+ years successful experience teaching in an International Baccalaureate Programme
Experience teaching in English literacy and/or literature
Creative and enthusiastic approach to teaching, inside and outside of the classroom
Excellent team player within science department and across disciplines
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Strong writing skills and ability to teach writing
Ability to lead wilderness trips with students in remote locations
Preferred Skills and Experience
Middle Years Programme teaching experience
Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid certification
State or international teaching certification
