St. George’s Episcopal School is searching for an experienced, enthusiastic, and creative Early Childhood Teacher to work in our Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year. St. George’s is seeking candidates who demonstrate a growth mindset and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. At least 2 years of teaching experience in early childhood
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood or elementary education required

Exceptional communication skills which prove effective in communicating with parents and establishing a team approach with the child’s family
Excellent knowledge of child development, latest education theories and practices, and current trends in education and professional development
Curriculum and Teaching Methods
Understands the academic, social and emotional needs of Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students
Knowledge of engaging and innovative teaching practices in a variety of subjects: reading, mathematics, science, social studies and writing
Experience with or appreciation for project/constructivist learning approach and an ability to integrate real-life learning experiences into the curriculum
Ability and willingness to differentiate instruction for students
Understanding of the environment as a teaching tool
Familiar with Lucy Calkins reading and writing workshop, a balanced literacy approach and teaching foundational skills in reading
Experience with Responsive Classroom approach preferred
Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum in a meaningful way
Using data to inform and guide instruction and knowledge of authentic assessment practices
Proficient in Google Docs, Smartboard and iPads as a communication and teaching tool
Work with Teaching Team
Experience working in a teaching team
Positive attitude and eager to work collaboratively with full time teacher, peers and colleagues in developing curriculum and planning for instruction
A desire to respond to and initiate the solving of problems through clear and open communication
Open to feedback and able to take risks
Highly interested in pursuing professional development opportunities and dedicated to lifelong learning and possessing a growth mindset
